Say It Wit Ya Chest is a community Open Mic Poetry Night hosted at Malelani Cafe, located at 6734 Germantown Avenue in the vibrant Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

This event takes place on every second and fourth Friday from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, providing a platform for artists to share their work in a supportive environment. The evening is led by the talented poet Khalisah Hameed, representing The Olive Press Media. The admission fee for the night is $10, which applies equally to both audience members and performing poets.  

Throughout the evening, you can expect a warm welcome of music and connection, a 15-slot open mic section in the first hour, and a performance by a Featured  Poet to close out the night. The atmosphere is further enhanced by the musical contributions of DJ Sup Dupe, creating a lively backdrop for the poetry being shared. 

Guests are encouraged to arrive by 6:45 PM to secure a good seat or to sign up for the open mic, and the cafe offers food for purchase, making it a delightful evening out.  

This event is open to the public and welcomes poets from all backgrounds and experience levels, fostering a diverse and inclusive community. Attendees are advised to bring a few extra dollars if they wish to purchase books or merchandise from the performing poets.

Poetry Arts Community Trail is a community-wide, interactive neighborhood walk that entails curated poetry readings at select locations along Germantown Ave, beginning at historic Cliveden House, each stop will feature performances by local poets and conversations around the topic of community as related to healing through the arts. The walk will conclude at Tree Lab Pocket Park (shine), across from Imperfect Gallery with an open poetry share and after party to commemorate the day.

We'll be providing a map of all designated spots and a limited supply of specialty notebooks for the first 25-30 friends to jot down their own poetry inspired by our gather during the event!

Open to all ages, please dress for walking and weather appropriateness.
